We had a great holiday trip this year! Not only did we visit my parents’ house in North Georgia, but we also visited my in-laws in Tennessee. Additionally, my best friend Amy came up to stay with us at my parents’ house over New Year’s! We had such a fun time!
While Amy was visiting, we decided to take a little drive up to the mountains with the kids and “see what we could see” for an afternoon. First, we stopped at my very favorite BBQ place in North GA – Big D’s BBQ in Dawsonville. The food there is so good!
After lunch, we had thought we would check out Helen and enjoy its Bavarian charm, but when we saw the sign for Cabbage Patch Babyland General Hospital, we knew we had to go! Admission to Babyland General is free (because it’s basically a giant Cabbage Patch store — not a real hospital — where they try to convince you to buy hundreds of dollars worth of doll stuff). Although we didn’t buy anything, we had a fun time playing with the dolls and checking it out. It’s definitely a sight to see and worth going at least once just for the experience!
Here are some pictures from our day:
Best BBQ ever at Big D’s!
William was super excited at this point – Z was like – whatever!
This was a very strange Cabbage Patch Baby birth presentation.
William loved playing stylist to these babies! He was very cute!
This was one of the toddler “nurseries” – there were several – some for younger babies and some for older ones.
Overall, visiting Babyland General Hospital was a fun afternoon activity to do with the kids on a cold day in the North Georgia Mountains! Not sure if we will be returning, since I don’t really have any plans of purchasing Cabbage Patch dolls any time soon, but it definitely made for an interesting experience, and the boys had a good time!
Mainly, I love that there are so many things to do within just an hour or so from where we will be living when we move to GA this summer. Babyland was a little over an hour from my parents’ house. Along the way, there were so many other great activities to do with the kids. It makes me even more excited for fun-filled family weekends after we move!
I’ve ALWAYS wanted to go there!! I worry that it might be kind of weird if I go without kids though!
