Friday inspiration: Harry Potter Edition

Today is HP Day. Adrian and I are off to see the final Harry Potter film….. it marks the end of an era.

I used to be very involved in the Harry Potter “fandom” online, and in fact one of my closest friends, Meredith Smith of Sweet Anthem Handmade Perfumes, and I, formed our friendship in the Harry Potter communities on the Livejournal blogging platform, namely Hogwarts Elite and Hogwarts Rising. We both used to make crazy HP related graphics (a precursor to my photography & Photoshopping days of the present, I suppose!) and bonded over JPG’s, graphic textures, and movie stills.

Then, my husband Adrian read the HP books, and we bonded even more over Harry, Ron, Hermione, and their wonderful world, stalking the bookstore midnight parties every time a new novel was released… seeing the movies at midnight… and yes, even dressing up a few times!

I’ve found so many wonderful HP related things online and thought I would take my favorite of the Potterisms that I’ve found on the internet and share them with you today as my special Potter edition of Friday inspiration. Enjoy.

This is an old graphic I’ve had for at least 6 or 7 years on my computer (you can tell since it’s an old school animated gif). I think it’s funny. 🙂

Beautiful stylized image of the Harry Potter British stamp collection. The image I found was from Flickr but you can read more about the 2007 stamp set here. Really neat!

I found this graphic on Pinterest which I think I believe came from tumblr somewhere. Sad 🙁

Thank you JK Rowling, Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Luna, Neville, Dumbledore, Snape, Sirius… the list goes on…. for so many great memories over the past few years. HP is by far my favorite fandom to have joined into, and one I don’t suppose I will ever leave. I hope that one day my kids adore the books and the movies just as much as we have.
