Mommy Monday

I’ve been having a lot of fun spending time with my little guy. I think we’re going to have a great summer! He just started camp today and was so happy to see his friends and go play. He has a new teacher for his camp class and since he’s moving into an older class, things are a little different. He is such a big boy now and I’m excited for him and all of the fun things to come!

I haven’t written an update in a while so I thought I’d mention a few things that have been keeping me on my toes and happy about having a two and a half year old!

First off, Zachary is REALLY talking now! Complete sentences, singing, telling us stories, talking about his day… it’s amazing! It boggles my mind that a year ago he was only saying 20 words and now he’s telling me about the PLATYPUS that he was watching on an episode of Wonder Pets. Oh, and singing the Wonder Pets song, too. Ha ha! We have also started potty training and that’s going well! I’m so proud of him and excited about getting him totally trained this year.

Zachary still loves Woody, Buzz, and Thomas the Tank Engine, but he’s also really into cars right now — both the Disney variety (especially Mater!) and his Hotwheels/Matchbox cars, which we can’t get enough of. He loves to line them up in long, long lines, have them interact with his Thomas trains…. organize by color… just about anything! He loves playing with his toys. He also enjoys helping me clean up the toys, which is good, because after two years of having a little boy, I finally feel like I’ve found my groove with keeping up with him, cleaning up after him, and keeping my house mostly clean. LOL! Since he likes cars SO much, we are considering taking Zachary to see the new Cars 2 movie as his first ever movie theater flick later this month! I can’t believe we are even at that point in his life where we are thinking about going to the movies. Time goes by so quickly.

He loves pretend playing too. He makes up lots of stories and games. One of our favorite games is hiding under the sheet on my bed and playing “ghosts” where we make the sheets fly around us like a parachute!

He also likes a variety of food now. Gone are the days of having a really picky eater. Things started to get better for me a little before he turned two and his eating options have only expanded! Picky eater Moms, don’t fear… things do improve!! Zachary has come to enjoy pizza, chicken, pasta, peanut butter sandwiches, strawberries, and lots more, and he finally likes juice! He isn’t too big on veggies, but eats a lot of fruit, so it all evens out. He also asks me every other day if we can go to Starbucks so we can share an iced chai latte, and since I’m such a nice mommy, I occasionally get him one of those little cake pops they have since they are the perfect size for a child to enjoy.

I am also amazed by Zachary’s love for technology. He knows how to use the Apple TV as well as the iPad, which he thinks is “his” – LOL. He can turn on all of his preschool apps, the Movie player, and draw pictures. When we go on long car rides he asks to bring the iPad with him to draw or watch a movie. It is one of our favorite (and most expensive) “toys” to play with!

Here’s a recent picture that my husband captured of me and Z playing in his playroom a week or two ago. He is SO much fun to be with these days. Life with my little boy only gets better and better! 🙂
