Today’s “Pic of the Week” post is all about visiting Thomas the Train when he came to Miami!
On March 20th, we took Zachary down to the Gold Coast Railway Museum in Miami to see Thomas the Tank Engine on his “Day Out With Thomas” tour! We had a great time.
We took the 10:30am train ride, which was the first one. It was fantastic since the museum was not yet packed and it wasn’t too hot outside yet. We were able to walk around and look at the old railway cars & engines on our way to the boarding area. The museum was full of old engines and railway cars. It was fun to see sights like these:
Zachary couldn’t wait to board the train. He was so excited to be seeing Thomas and was wearing his special Thomas t-shirt!
He enjoyed looking out the window and seeing what he could see. Zachary liked watching everything pass by while the train chugged along! The car that we rode in was a vintage 1950’s car from Chicago. So cool!!
I had a great time riding the train and sat next to him and pointed out different things along the way. Everyone got a 25 minute ride (it pretty much ran in circles) and the kids loved the whole experience of being on a real train!
We had a great time together on the train trip! Experiencing new activities like a train ride is always so much fun with Zachary.
I just love this thoughtful image that Adrian captured of Zachary watching the world pass by.
After the train ride, we went over to the model train area. It was so cool – there were a whole bunch of train tables, and Zachary just loved playing with the motorized train set. It was great how all the little kids played together.
After playing with the model trains, we picked up some new Thomas items like a plate and bowl for Zachary and a new train to play with, and headed back to the car after taking a photo in front of the Thomas Train:
Our little guy was so exhausted from a fun and busy morning that he ended up sleeping the whole ride home (and so did I actually – good thing Adrian was driving!). The good news is that the tickets we purchased are good to be used again if we want to visit the Railway Museum since the museum was actually closed during the Thomas event, so I look forward to going back again some time to check it out. I really love the way the old trains look and especially how they photograph.
We had a good time at the event, and I highly recommend it for anyone thinking about attending. In fact, if Zachary still likes trains next year (which I hope he does since we have so much Thomas stuff, lol) then I will definitely buy tickets to go again. It was well worth it for a fun-filled morning with lots of quality family time!
That is SO great! I’m so glad grandpa Dan found it online and that you guys did go to it as a family! THUMBS UP!
Very cute! Such great photos too! Sounds like you had a nice family day together! Love you!
