there’s nothing better than tea

I’ve been drinking two or three pots of tea a day lately… Adrian and I were at Teavana a few months ago and found a whole bunch of new flavors to enjoy and I’ve just been really loving trying them all. I love to curl up on the couch with my tea and read a book or watch a great movie or mess around on my laptop at the end of the day. Drinking tea always makes me feel so much more relaxed, even when it’s mid-day and I’ve got a lot going on.

Here’s a little tea inspiration for those of you who are tea-types too πŸ™‚

I love drinking flavored black teas, Chai and other spiced teas, and various oolongs and rooibos blends. I’m not as interested in greens or whites, though I know they have a lot of health benefits, so I’ve found some that I like well enough to drink frequently. I really don’t like too many fruity flavored teas, and I have to be in the right mood for a straight up herbal tea, though occasionally I enjoy licorice mint tea by Yogi Tea, a company whose flavors I also really like. I tend to drink only loose teas, but since I generally will make a whole pot when I go that route, it’s nice to have a fallback for a brand that makes a great single serving product as well. My usual go-to brand is Yogi Tea, but I also like some of the selections that Stash Tea carries as well, as they have some truly unique flavors.

What kinds of tea do you like? What’s your favorite way to enjoy your tea?

  1. I wish I liked tea, because of all the health benefits! Plus, since I don’t drink coffee, it’d be nice to have a hot drink to curl up with (especially a calorie free one).

Unfortunately, I do not like it at all. My mom used to try to get me to drink tea when I was sick (I had many sore throats as a kid), and I never ever ever developed any sort of like for it. Maybe I think of it as medicine, or maybe I just really hate the taste of [all] teas. As I’ve gotten older, many of my tastes have expanded and I’ve stopped being childish about certain foods, but I don’t think I will ever like tea.

    1. Melissa, you should try tea again and see if you can find one that you actually like! there really are some yummy ones. I like my tea with a little milk and a Splenda or two. πŸ™‚ If you ever want a recommendation I’d be more than happy to suggest a few for you to try.

  2. I’m not a tea drinker, but ironically, I love tea cups. My mother-in-law threw me an awesome Alice in Wonderland themed bridal shower before my wedding and all of the guests brought with them a single tea cup — I have an incredibly cool collection… all kinds of kooky designs and colors. so my dining room has turned into a ‘tea party’ theme.

    1. That sounds like SO much fun! There’s an adorable tea parlor near me that opened a few years after I got married – I wish it had been around earlier so I could have had my own bridal shower there.

  3. I like Teavana’s “To Life” tea. I drink tea solely because I enjoy it though. Anyway, my wife drinks a blend from there that’s a blend of green and white teas. Unfortunately, I can’t remember which ones.

    1. Erik: To Life is one of the white teas I like. is the one your wife likes Mind & Body? Adrian likes that one a lot, and I think it’s a white/green blend. I like it too, but don’t like it as much as he does.

  4. I’m more of a coffee drinker, but I do enjoy a nice cup of tea and I find when I’m pregnant the tea hits the spot much more often than not. Do you give Z any tea? Catherine on Weelicious was just writing about letting her kids drink tea and I’d been pondering the thought myself. I picked up some intaba babybush tea and think I’ll see if the boy is interested tomorrow.

  5. Karen, I don’t think there’s a name for the one my wife likes, though I could be wrong. The one that she likes is actually a blend of White Avuredic Chai and Samurai Chai Mate (not white and green like I thought). All I recall is that while we were there, they had brewed the two together and she fell in love with it. They sold it to her in separate tins and she mixes it at home, right before it seeps.

    1. Oh, I just tried that yesterday at the store! They had the blend there and it was delicious. we ended up getting the Samurai mate, but didn’t splurge on the white ayurvedic chai πŸ˜‰

  6. I like Hibiscus tea best (well, that’s pretty obvious I guess πŸ™‚ but I also love Keemun black tea and green gunpowder tea.

I love your soothing tea images, especially the first one with the Scrabble tiles, that’s a hoot. Ahh, now I want some tea…
