Daily Life, Zachary

a perfect summer day

Yesterday, we had a perfect day.

Zachary was in a pretty good mood so after he ate his lunch, Adrian brought the hose and a sprinkler out in the middle of the backyard, I dressed Z up in his swim trunks (which still fit from last summer – I guess I bought size 18 month! how funny), we lathered him up with sunscreen, and let him loose in the sprinkles of water!

At first he wasn’t so sure what he was supposed to do, so it took a while for him to warm up to the idea, but once he figured it out, he really loved it. I took some great photos and processed them with a warm look that makes me think of summer time. Even though it was just the last day of April, it really felt like the first day of summer, though technically that’s almost two months away.

How cute are these photos?

After we finished up outside, Adrian gave Zachary a bath and he quickly fell asleep while chilling out in front of the TV to one of his favorite shows (so worn out!). When he woke up, I took him to the post office for the first time to show him how we mail a letter (with the automated machine) and then we had a relaxing night at home. Zachary went right to bed at 8:30pm, and Adrian and I did lots of work and watched Stargate: SGU in between working while we ate our dinner.

Of course, I’m exhausted today. We stayed up until 5am working. I made my way through an entire wedding which I desperately needed to do (I have two more to cull through, plus finishing up some portraits). I also finished editing most of the photos for that wedding’s blog entry, edited the photos for this blog entry, prepared some proposals for potential clients, and took care of a new contract for a new client.

I was able to get a LOT done in the seven hours or so that I was up working on the computer after Zachary went to bed. It kind of ruined my plans for today, since I am too tired to go out (though we will be having dinner with my parents later).ย  Even though I have more nights like this than I would really like, it is a trade-off of being a work at home mom and spending the day with my baby boy. We’ve been having so many fun days together lately and yesterday was one of the best (so glad I took photos to capture it forever!)… if I have to be a little more tired to make that happen more often for him, then I will.

Zachary is 17 months old now. He is looking more and more like a little boy every day, not just a baby. it’s so apparent to me in these photos.

last but not least… I was given an Honest Scrap Award today by the lovely Mom of the Perpetually Grounded! Thank you so much for thinking of me! ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Your photos take my breath away! I wish you could come over and teach me a few things! Did you edit those to make the colors so vibrant? What editing program do you use? HAHA Sorry for the 20 questions, I just love your work!

  2. omg… how CUTE!!!! the last one needs to be a huge canvas!!! and the one of him with adrian– he looks like a 3 year old!! soooo precious!

  3. I was just thinking how much Z looks like a little boy. He’s getting tall and lean and doesn’t have that roly-poly baby look. It’s amazing how quickly it happens.

  4. You really are an amazing photographer! You seem to know that exact second to push the button and get a perfect shot of life. I’m always a few seconds off and tons of pics of my kids looking somewhere else.
