Happy Earth Day! I hope everyone had a fun and “green” filled day. To celebrate, I wrote a post on my business blog about how I’ve been taking steps to be more green with my business. It might not interest you if you’re not a photographer, but you can check it out by clicking here.

Here are some interesting things I’ve found online to celebrate Earth Day:

– I found this neato giveaway for an Eco-friendly Children’s Playhouse by KidsCraft. I really like the shuttle one! Adrian and I are big space aficionados so that would be so much fun to play with Zachary.

Buy one get one free coupon at Jamba Juice. I just looove their delicious 100% fruit smoothies! Some of them are pretty healthy. Too bad I just found this today… it expires on the 25th! At least we have two more days to get a free Jamba Juice smoothie… yum!

– Today our favorite TV channel (ok, my son’s favorite channel), Sprout, launched an interesting new show, dirtgirlworld. The show features a cast of interestingly animated kids, lead by Dirt Girl, learning all about the environment and getting “grubby.” Sprout has posted a page of games, coloring pages, and online videos which you can check out here. So far Zachary likes the show and I think the animation technique is really interesting. I look forward to watching it more often with him and learning a little more about our world.

– Another article from Sprout’s website about Getting Crafty with Recyclables. It would be fun to make some of these some time since we have so many of these items in our house right now and every week we just get rid of them. It’d be awesome to turn them into a candle holder or bird house!

– This one is a little off-planet. Here is some awesomeness from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory. Gorgeous!

And here’s a final thought. If you don’t like religious discussions, you may want to just skip this section. 😉

I saw a tweet today (the tweeter’s name will not be disclosed, due to pure stupidity IMO) regarding Going Green. The person stated that she doesn’t do the “going green thing” because if you read Revelations, it won’t matter in the end anyway! When I read that statement, all I could think was, OMG!!! I didn’t even bother to write back to the tweeter because I didn’t want it to turn into a flame war, and I really didn’t want to deal with someone that ignorant anyway.

Well, I’m Jewish, not Christian, and I’m not an overly religious person, but I know what Revelations is (the end of the world) and I don’t believe in ANY way, shape or form that God would want us to neglect the planet we were given, regardless of what you believe will happen to it someday. To quote‘s article, Going Green the Jewish Way, Genesis 2 verse 15 states the contrary: “God places Adam in the Garden of Eden, ‘to cultivate it and to guard it.'”

Regardless of what religion you believe in (or don’t believe in), I think it would be great if we all could take at least one step to help “guard” our planet and keep it safe for our children, grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren!

Thanks for reading. 🙂
